This series comprises approximately 116 black and white and sepia-toned photographs depicting the different locations and buildings of the motherhouses for the Lutheran Deaconess Motherhouse and Training School, Baltimore, Maryland. (BMD) Photographs are available for the three locations that the motherhouse and training school occupied consecutively from 1895-1963. The last location is alternately referred to as 1100 Boyce Avenue, Ruxton, Maryland, and 6901 N. Charles Street, Ruxton, Maryland. For continuity purposes, in this series and others throughout this record group, the last property owned by the BMD is referred to as the 1100 Boyce Avenue property. Photographs include interior shots and exterior shots. These photographs offer an opportunity to provide a visual timeline to accompany the history of the BMD, especially the second location of the motherhouse at 2500 W. North Avenue, Baltimore. There are photographs taken when construction was completed in 1911 and in the early 1950s before it was sold and the third motherhouse building and grounds was purchased. Records are arranged by property.
